Foundations of Anatomy & Physiology I

Foundations of Anatomy and Physiology 1 is the first of two semester-long lab courses introducing basic anatomy and physiology. The first unit covers directional terminology and those aspects of chemistry and cellular biology that learners must master to study anatomy and physiology. It also instructs learners on how to use lab equipment safely.

DNA: The Human Body Recipe

As a class, students work through an example showing how DNA provides the "recipe" for making human body proteins. They see how the pattern of nucleotide bases (adenine, thymine, guanine, cytosine) forms the double helix ladder shape of DNA, and serves as the code for the steps required to make genes.

Examining Risk Factors Associated with Covid-19

Using the Pandemic Vulnerability Index from the National Institute of Environmental Health Science (NIH), students examine vulnerability to the disease at the county level from multiple perspectives, including infection rate, intervention measures such as social distancing, testing, and social determinants, such as health disparities associated with race and socioeconomic status.
